Created
in 1996, MADAME is the first company selling items
exclusively from Madagascar in the United States.
Its
founder, Prisca Rabetafika knew at the age of 13
that she would one day
find a way to market Malagasy made items in the United
States. Born and raised in the United States to Malagasy
parents. Prisca had the opportunity to visit Madagascar
during vacations and take in all of the things that
the country had to offer. Awestruck by the rampant
poverty and great divide between New York City and Antananarivo
(Capital of Madagascar), Prisca
was determined to find a way to help the Malagasy
natives any which way she could. Over the years
Prisca would get her degrees, focus on Marketing and
use her corporate experience and interest in international
marketing to finally bring
Malagasy crafts to the US.
MADAME's
purpose is to bring you back to the timelessness
of handmade art and give you a glimpse into the culture
of Madagascar.
